WELCOME
TO MCKILLEN WOODCRAFTS
After
twenty years languishing as a civil engineer, I finally made
a break for freedom to concentrate on woodwork.
My
woodwork is a reaction against the humourless and soulless
lines and shapes that blight so much of modern life.
My work
is organic in style and I keep the “treeness” of the wood by
using natural edges as much as possible.
I work
exclusively with native timbers for both ecological and
aesthetic reasons. These timbers include oak, elm, yew and
ash.
These
are used to make a variety of pieces from sizeable linen
chests and mirrors to jewellery boxes and smaller items
including clocks and candlesticks.
Larger
pieces for indoor and outdoor use can be commissioned -
designed closely with and for the client.
